The
Star Hotel Bed & Breakfast is a historic site, completely renovated in
2004, located right in the southern heart of North Carolina. Built in 1896,
The Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast was located at the junction of two major
railways in North Carolina. Where the North/South railway met the East/West
railway, many times the passengers would get off the train and would have
to spend the night to wait for the train to pass the next day. Even though
they didn't call it a Bed & Breakfast Back in those days, in essence it
was exactly that. People would spend the night, wake up and eat breakfast
and take off again. Now in 2006, The Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast is still
the perfect place to stay, with Pinehurst and Troy only a short driving distance
away as well as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh all within equal distance.

The
Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast offers a charming, down-home, friendly atmosphere
for you to sit and relax when you just want to get away from it all! You can
also take advantage of the many nearby activities that the area has to offer
such as swimming, water skiing, fishing and boating on Lake Tillery near the
surrounding Uwharrie National Forest, where you can go horse-back riding,
hiking, hunting, canoeing, off-roading, and recreational panning for gold
at Reed's Gold Mine! A visit to Town Creek Indian Mound offers a glimpse of
pre-Columbian life which brings to life a rich cultural heritage from the
buried past. There is the nearby North Carolina Zoo as well as some of the
best golfing in the world in the nearby town of Pinehurst which was host to
last years 2005 Men's US Open.

The
Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast is also located within 10 miles of world famous
Seagrove, the pottery capital of North Carolina. Seagrove is one of the largest
potter communities in the United States. Traditional pottery has been made
in the Seagrove area since the late 1700's, and is the home to over one-hundred
different potters. All styles of pottery and ceramic art are represented,
perfect for the casual shopper or the serious collector. Along with countless
pottery studios and galleries scattered on NC Hwy 705, Seagrove is also the
home of The North Carolina Pottery Center. A great place to view exhibits,
learn the history of local potters and purchase local work.

The
Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast also offers Baquet facilities for functions up
to 200 people:
